Veedersburg - Russell Wayne Helms, 59, Veedersburg died at noon Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been ill with pneumonia since December 18. Mr. Helms was a carpenter most of his life. He was a member of the New Century EUB Church here. Born on a farm south of Veedersburg on Jan 15, 1906 he was the son of Veeder and Artie Newnum Helms. On July 12, 1925 he was married to Ida McElwee, who survives. Survivors besides the wife are a son, Eugene of Crawfordsville; five daughters, Mrs. Lois Clawson; Mrs. Lucille Clawson; Mrs. Mary Jane Clouse and Mrs. Bever Dennis all of Veedersburg and Mrs. Ruth Willett of Evansville; a sister, Mrs. Elma Lightle of Indianapolis; 22 grandch and one great. Funeral services will be held at Fishero Funeral Home 2 p.m. Monday Jan 18 with Rev. Herold Morrical officiating. Burial in Bonebrake Cemetery. - kbz
